Farm-to-table at Welikande
Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.
Our food is fresh, plant-based and, most importantly, delicious.
We prepare vegetarian dishes to nourish you and to inspire you to live life to the fullest.
Nearly all of the herbs and vegetables you will find on your plate have been grown on our property. What is not in our garden, we buy from vendors in the nearby villages so that everything is as fresh as it can be. We even roast our own coffee.
Whether it is a king coconut for breakfast, bowls of exotic fruit, lunchtime snacks or a full Sri Lankan dinner, the food is balanced and full of flavour. Menus flex around any dietary requirement, and vegan is always possible. Tell us when you book.
When you eat, and what turns up
Kola Kanda
A traditional herbal drink, green and warm, served before breakfast.
Breakfast on the terrace
Fruit, king coconut, and whatever the garden gave that morning, eaten together looking at the mountains.
Lunch, wherever you are
On the terrace, or packed and carried with you if you are out on an activity.
A Sri Lankan feast
Aromatic, generous, cooked that afternoon by Tush and her team.

What we grow, and who cooks it
Tush grew up in a family where Ayurvedic knowledge was inherited, and she cooks the way she learned: with what the garden gives that day, and with the spices the guides point out on the walks.
- Three vegetarian meals a day, included in every rate
- Grown on the estate, or bought that morning at the village market
- Coffee we roast ourselves
- Vegan and dietary requirements are normal here, not an exception
Whether it is a king coconut for breakfast, bowls of exotic fruit, lunchtime snacks or a full Sri Lankan dinner, the food is balanced and full of flavour.
