WELIKANDE VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM

Would you like to spend ONE MONTH co-creating and being part of our community?

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE!

In every community, there is work to be done. In every nation, there are wounds to heal. In every heart, there is the power to do it. – Marianne Williamson

We are excited and grateful to have you come to Welikande Yoga Retreats as a volunteer. As we grow our community we are reaching out in the hope of increasing our visibility. Your contribution of knowledge and service is essential to Welikande’s mission:

To provide the most nurturing and transformative environment possible to our guests.

Being a volunteer gives you an opportunity to come and experience Welikande in a very unique way. You will become an intrinsic part of our special way of life. We are opening our doors for you to join our community, consisting of the guests, the founders (Michael and Tush), our staff, tour guides, drivers, animals, and many others who help to make Welikande such a beautiful place.

In yogic philosophy, being a volunteer, or offering service is one of the highest forms of yoga practice. The Sanskrit word for volunteering is “seva”. Seva basically means to offer service and to do so mindfully with non-attachment to outcomes.

In deep gratitude for offering seva to Welikande and our community, our promise is to provide:

  • Single bed in a shared room with bathroom (two volunteers max)

  • 3 delicious vegetarian and vegan meals daily

  • Daily yoga and meditation when offered

  • Participation in activities and events (conditions apply)

  • Access to facilities: Pool, meditation shala, yoga shala, massage center

  • Internet access in the main house

  • 1 day off per week

Our volunteering program is an excellent way to:

  • Live a healthy lifestyle and create lifelong habits

  • Deepen your knowledge and practice of yoga

  • Spend time in a tropical exotic country, close to nature

  • Make a valuable contribution and cultivate lasting connections and friendships

  • Have opportunities to practice teaching yoga and share your talents

  • Learn about the culture of Sri Lanka and visit nearby places and cities

What is not included?

  • Flight tickets

  • Travel, health, and personal insurance

  • Transportation from Welikande

  • Sri Lanka visa cost
